Born and raised in poverty, 15yr old Himanshu Raj tops State with 96.2% in 10th class board exam

Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has recently announced the class 10 board exam results on May 20 (Thursday) on its official website ‘biharboardonline.com’. The exams were conducted from 17 to 24 February 2020.

Himanshu Raj of Janta High School, Rohtas, topped the state as he scored 481 marks out of 500. The pass percentage of the class 10 board exam result is said to be 80.59%, which is 0.14 % less than the previous year’s score of 80.73%. Over 15 lakh students had appeared for the examination of which around 3 lakh students failed. The pass percentage for the Class 1oth board exam is 80.59%.

There is a saying that says, “Anyone in this world can achieve success against all odds. It is true if we believe in it.” Himanshu Raj’s story is one that needs to be told to inspire the young minds of the country. 

Being a son of a vegetable vendor, Himanshu Raj, dreams of becoming a software engineer. Himanshu’s marks speak huge volumes as he got 96.20% in class 10 board exam, making him the topper of the state. Himanshu, who was on cloud nine after seeing his result said, “Though I was expecting to bag a place in top 5, getting the top position was a surprise. I feel like I have conquered the world.”

Himanshu’s father Subhash Singh is a vegetable seller while his mother is a homemaker. He didn’t allow his family problems to come across his dreams and aspirations. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Himanshu Raj defied all odds to top the class 10 board exam.

Himanshu attributed his success to hard work. “I studied for more than 10 hours regularly. My parents and my siblings always motivated me to study hard. They sacrificed their comforts to provide me best of the resources available so that I could concentrate on my studies,” he said.

In his bid to pursue his dreams, Himanshu has decided to opt for science stream in intermediate. “Then I will try to get admission in reputed college for pursuing BTech,” he said.

Himanshu can breathe a sigh of relief as all his hard work paid off. Hard work, determination and perseverance can steer you to touch the pinnacle of success. The teachers have been very helpful to him.

Durgesh Kumar of S K High School, Samastipur bagged the second rank by scoring 96%. Shubham Kumar, Rajveer and Juli Kumari have shared the third rank by scoring 95.6% each.
