A quick comparison between Temples & Mosques: which donate more to Covid-19 relief fund

A COVID-19 relief fund was set up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prepare the country for the novel coronavirus that has affected more than 125,000 people and claimed the lives of 3,720 in India so far.

Several Hindu Temples from all over the country have come forward to help India in its battle against the Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic. On the contrary, Mosques have made no contribution to the COVID-19 relief fund. Now, in this article, we will learn about which have donated more to the coronavirus relief fund.

The contribution of Hindu Temples to the COVID-19 relief fund is higher than that of Mosques. Let’s know what contribution these temples and Mosques have made to the country during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Contribution of Hindu Temples:

Mahavir Mandir Trust:

The Mahavir Mandir Trust in Patna has generously donated Rs 1 crore to the CM Relief Fund for fighting the Covid-19 pandemic in the state. The Trust’s secretary Acharya Kishore Kunal said: “Our main motive is to strengthen the government’s plan to recover from the catastrophe and provide food to the poor people.” This is the same temple that had announced in November last year that it would donate Rs 10 crore to build Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Somnath Mandir:

Shri Somnath Trust has made a donation of Rs 1 crore to the Gujarat Chief Minister’s relief fund. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel is the chairman of the trust. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani are members of the trust as well.

Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust:

The Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (Sai Baba temple) has generously donated a whopping Rs 51 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in Maharashtra. This donation is so far the biggest contribution made by any temple in the country.

Mahalaxmi Temple Kolhapur:

The Temple is managed/administered by Devasthan Management Committee which has donated Rs 2 crore to help the country beat the coronavirus pandemic.

Swaminarayan Temples:

Seven Swaminarayan Temples across Gujarat cumulatively contributed a total of Rs. 1.88 crore. In addition, they are providing food to the poor and five hundred rooms have been given for isolation by various Temples run by the Vadtal Swaminarayan Temples across Gujarat.

Baba Ramdev:

Yoga-Guru Ramdev made an announcement that he will donate a whopping Rs 25 crore to the PM CARES Fund. This donation is one of the biggest donations made by Ramdev. Ramdev also announced that two of his institutions in Haridwar and his ashrams in Kolkata, Modinagar (Uttar Pradesh) and Solan (Himachal Pradesh) would be made available for the treatment of coronavirus patients. Furthermore, ration would be distributed by Patanjali.

Apart from the above mentioned, there are many other temples which have also made a great contribution to the nation during the crisis. It makes us feel proud when we see Hindu Temples are coming forward to help those who are suffering from COVID-19 disease.

Contribution of Mosques:

Jama Masjid of Delhi:

Jama Masjid of Delhi has made a donation of Rs 0 to the COVID-19 relief fund. Above all, Markaz people attended an event organised by the Tablighi Jamaat in the month of April who later tested positive for COVID-19. As per The New Indian Express, Tablighi Jamaat members violated COVID-19 shutdown rules implemented by the central government.

Ajmer Sharif Dargah:

As far as Ajmer Sharif Dargah is concerned, it has contributed nothing towards the novel coronavirus relief funds.

Several other Mosques like Tipu Sultan Mosque, Haji Ali Dargah, and Makkah Masjid Hyderabad have made no contribution to the COVID-19 relief fund.
