Two militants killed in an encounter with Security Forces in Pulwama’s Awantipora

Amid the nationwide lockdown due to Coronavirus pandemic, Two militants and a ‘hardcore’ associate have been killed in a gunfight with security forces in Awantipora area of Pulwama district Saturday morning, police said.

According to police, Army personnel received information about the presence of terrorists and soon the troops launched a cordon and search operation at Goripora area of Pulwama’s Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir.

The terrorist opened fire at cops when they were encircled by the forces during a cordon and search operations (CASO) in the area. Later, an encounter broke out between militants and security forces in which two terrorists were gunned down.

The identity and group affiliation of the terrorists are yet to be ascertained. The encounter in Awantipora’s Goripora area comes close of the heels of one in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday, in which four terrorists from the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind group were killed.

Terror activities have caused tensions in Jammu and Kashmir, but security personnel are doing a great job in order to maintain law and order and ensuring safety in Jammu & Kashmir.

Tension rose between India and Pakistan just after the abrogation of article 370. Pakistan has been trying to disrupt the peace in Jammu and Kashmir through proxy war. However, the vigilance on the border has been beefed up by India and patrolling has been increased on the border. The troops are on high alert across Jammu and Kashmir.
