Sushen Dang and his fiancee, Keerti Narang got married through Zoom App amid lockdown

Amid the lockdown which was imposed to prevent the spread of the epidemic, which has claimed more than lakhs of people’s lives, Sushen Dang, 26, and his fiancee, Keerti Narang got married through Zoom App. This news comes at a time when the entire nation is fighting against COVID-19.

The video, which is doing the rounds on social media, shows that the couple tied the knot through a video call and solemnized marriage as per Hindu rituals. In the video, the couple can be seen exchanging vows during the wedding ceremony.

It has been learnt that the bride was hundreds of miles away in Bareilly in central India, while the groom was in Mumbai. The wedding took place in the presence of relatives from both sides and they blessed the couple.

The video, which has gone viral on the internet like wildfire, shows the wedding ceremony was conducted via video call as the couple was in different cities. The duo was unable to get at one place for marriage due to the shutdown imposed by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which has claimed over 1.9 lakh lives across the world.

The priest, based in yet another city, Raipur, chanted hymns in front of the ritual fire and asked the bride’s father to lead a “digital kanyadaan,” or giving away of his daughter. This online wedding program lasted for about two hours. The video of the wedding program was posted on social media. The video has garnered around 1.50 lakh views so far.

It is to be noticed that Sushen and Kirti met through a wedding website. Keerthi is a makeup artist. Sushen is a data analyst at an American company. They formally agreed to get married in October 2019. 19 April was chosen as the auspicious wedding date.

“It’s the great Indian Lockdown wedding,” said Anupam Mittal, founder and chief executive officer of online matchmaker Shaadi.com, which facilitated the Dang-Narang event. “We are helping them make the best out of the situation in these times of adversity.”
