In a horrifying incident on Sunday, a woman allegedly threw her five children into the Ganga river in Jeghangirabad in UP’s Bhadohi district.
As soon as the police were alerted about the shocking incident, the senior police officials reached the spot quickly in an attempt to find ways to rescue the children. The police informed the divers to be at the spot and they arrived immediately to locate the children.
The woman has been detained for her foolish act and police officials added that she seemed mentally unsound.
New agency, IANS quoting some unnamed sources had earlier reported that woman had previously said that she and her children were not getting sufficient food in the lockdown and source of income stopped because she was a daily wage earner.
“Our priority is to rescue the children as soon as possible, We will carry out other investigations later,” said a police official.
However, in a recent update, it has been confirmed that the woman did not throw her children into the river because she could not get food at hand. The UP Police clarified that the woman threw her five children into the Ganga river after an argument with her husband.
