PV Sindhu, Parupalli Kashyap donate money in India’s fight against COVID-19

Amid the nationwide lockdown owing to the fast-spreading coronavirus pandemic, homeless people and daily wage workers, who migrate to big cities from their home towns in search of jobs, are combating hunger for survival as the fast-spreading disease has now created a panic situation across India.

The situation had gone from bad to worse and during this crisis, celebrities, entrepreneurs, businessmen rose to the occasion by doing their best to help the country combat the pandemic.

The condition across the country is critical now. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said India’s current death toll from the coronavirus pandemic stands at 149, with the nation reporting 5,274 confirmed cases and out of them, 411 people have recovered from the disease. It is also to be noted that these confirmed cases are related to the Tablighi Jamaat meet in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area.

With governments across the entire world are struggling to fight the coronavirus pandemic, a number of high profile public figures stepped up to help the struggle against the viral outbreak.

This time around, Indian badminton stars showed their big heart as they have donated money to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund which was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help India fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Parupalli Kashyap on Tuesday donated ₹3 lakh to the Telangana Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help the state in its fight against the COVID-19.

The news regarding the same was confirmed by the player himself as he had posted an image on his official Twitter handle. Besides donating money, Parupalli Kashyap ensured to salute health care workers including emergency service providers who are helping people battle against coronavirus.

“I contributed Rs 3 lakhs to the Telangana CM Relief Fund. I salute the health care workers and emergency service providers. I hope my contribution helps them,” Parupalli Kashyap tweeted.

Recently, PV Sindhu and India’s badminton coach Pullela Gopichand stepped forward to donate for India’s fight against the pandemic.

Pullela Gopichand, in a recent interview with Times of India had revealed that he donated ₹11 lakh to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and along with that, he also contributed a sum of ₹10 lakh to the Telangana Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and ₹5 lakh to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Star shuttler PV Sindhu donated ₹500,000 each to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
