Wonderful initiative: Mysuru installs “disinfection tunnel” to fight Covid-19

The novel coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan, China has put the entire world in a lockdown. A 21-day shutdown has been implemented across India, but the only closure will not extinguish epidemics because the deadly virus is spreading exponentially across the world and is bent upon killing human beings, eliminating them.

This epidemic is neither restricted to a nation nor a region or particular weather. Therefore, we have to keep patience and observe restraint for the coming many days as there is no antidote of this disease so far.

Coronavirus is a contagious disease. This virus spreads through the droplets of coughing and sneezing. It is a battle of life and death and we have to win it. We should join forces in the time of crisis. God Willing the whole world would come out soon of this pandemic.

Meanwhile, Mysuru City Corporation set up a ‘disinfection tunnel’ at the entrance of the Mysuru exhibition ground market to contain the spread of COVID-19. People will have to pass through a tunnel before entering the market for shopping to control the pandemic.

Recently, a video from Mysuru went viral on social media in no time. In the video, people can be seen going through the ‘disinfection tunnel’ before stepping in the market. They have been advised to walk through the tunnel for three to four seconds during which disinfection chemicals will be spread through the nozzles fitted in the tunnel.

The video, which is doing the rounds on social media, shows that the tunnel has been built in Mysuru to maintain social distancing. This innovative technique has caught everyone’s attention on social media. Now, this great step is being praised a lot by netizens on social media.

Speaking to Indianexpress.com, Mysuru City Corporation health officer, Dr. Nagaraj said, “We are spraying Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) through the nozzles fitted in the tunnel in a water-base at 0.5 ppm in a fine mist, as people walk through the tunnel.”

For the first time in the country, disinfection tunnel for the visitors has been made in Mysuru city. As many as 21 confirmed positive cases of coronavirus have been reported from the district and more than 1,463 are in quarantine.

In India alone, the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus have surpassed 800 so far, while more than 15 people have died in the country from the infection. The speed with which corona is spreading seems unstoppable.

However, India is making all the necessary efforts to bring the fast-spreading disease under control. But the speed with which COVID-19 is spreading across the globe seems unstoppable.
