In a proud moment for the entire nation, a PhD student from IIT-B by the name of Jayeeta Saha will represent India at the Lindau Nobel Laureates Meeting 2020 Lindau, Germany in June. She also made her parents proud.
Jayeeta, who is a proud student from the prestigious institute’s chemistry department is among more than 600 early-stage researchers selected worldwide for a Nobel Laureates meeting to be held from June 28 to July 3, in Germany.
She was shortlisted by the department of science and technology, Government of India. In fact, her candidature for the Linda Nobel Laureate Meeting was chosen by the International Lindau Committee.
“The Lindau meeting brings together nearly 70 Nobel Laureates in various disciplines for both technical and non-technical interactions with over 600 students and early-stage researchers. The selected candidates usually pertain to the top 5 % of the applicants and follow a rigorous examination by the committee,” said IIT Bombay in a statement, while adding that the institute was delighted at Saha’s participation in the meeting.
It should be noted that the Lindau Nobel Laureate meetings include several sessions like lectures by the Nobel Laureates, panel or like the round-table discussions on interdisciplinary topics and informal small-group meeting with the Nobel Prize winners.
Jayeeta who studies electrocatalysis with nanomaterials at IIT-B is very much thrilled to meet John B Goodenough, who was bestowed with Nobel in Chemistry for co-creating the lithium-ion battery.
It should be noted that the Lindau Nobel Laureate meetings include several sessions like lectures by the Nobel Laureates, panel or like the round-table discussions on interdisciplinary topics and informal small-group meeting with the Nobel Prize winners.
Two other PhD scholars from India namely Srimadhavi Ravi and Deoendu Dolui, both from the field of Chemistry at IIT Gandhinagar, have also been chosen this year to mark their presence at the coveted 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting
