Women protestors invited him for Talks, took off his Helmet & hit him with Rods: DCP wife Pooja

In a shocking incident in Delhi violence, DCP Amit Sharma was grievously attacked by Delhi rioters on 24 February. Amit Sharma’s wife Pooja Sharma said that it was a pre-planned attack in which his husband was assaulted during the violence in Gokulpuri.

DCP’s wife said that the attack took place on 24 February when Amit reached the site to hold talks with women rioters. Initially, there were around 1,000 to 1,200 women present who called upon the DCP to hold talks with them.

She further said that he agreed to talk with them. As he reached the place, he was surrounded by women, followed by men. All of a sudden, one of the women protesters hit on his head, due to which his helmet fell down. He was brutally beaten up with hockey sticks and iron rods. The rioters also had knives and pistols in their hands, said Pooja.

He was beaten and knocked unconscious. ACP Anuj Sharma bravely rescued him even after having sustained severe injuries himself. But the violent mob kept pelting stones on the cops even when they were taking away the injured DCP.

However, the Delhi police have recovered videos that show the brutal assault against cops. In the video, a mob of Burkha clad women can be seen pelting stones on Delhi police officials and the cops subsequently taking the injured DCP to safety.

DCP Sharma suffered severe head injuries during the attack and had gone through a surgery. His health remains critical and recovery is expected to take three more months.

Violence broke out between pro and anti-CAA protesters in north-east Delhi in which more than 45 people were killed including an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Ankit Sharma and Head constable Ratan Lal and several were injured. Later, security personnel were deployed in several areas of North-East Delhi in the wake of incidents of violence and arson.

Taking the violent situation into consideration, a curfew was later imposed in affected areas in northeast Delhi and shoot orders have also been issued.
