In a shocking incident in Indore city, workers of the Madhya Pradesh Health Department were attacked by a Muslim people at Khajrana while they were doing a survey.

According to sources, workers of the TB survey team were assaulted by Muslim people in Ilyas Colony of Khajrana, when they reached there in order to conduct a survey

The survey was conducted by ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers to find out if there were any untreated tuberculosis (TB) patients. But Muslim people stopped them from conducting TB survey for fear they would get citizenship- related data.

The survey for TB patients began in the Indore district from February 17 and will continue till March 3. When the team reached Khajrana for the survey, local Muslim people started opposing it, forcing team workers to go back. Workers of the team somehow managed to escape from the place. For the time being, the survey has been stopped in the area.

Khajrana is a Muslim-dominated area in Indore which has been opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act since the bill was passed by the parliament. Amulya Nidhi, a social worker who works in the health sector, said, “The Health Department should take the residents into confidence and complete the survey, so that no TB patient is denied treatment.
