When a Delhi youth caught ABP news doing biased reporting on CAA protests, see what happened next

Everyone is well aware of the fact that India is the largest democracy in the world where the media as the 4th pillar plays a crucial role in shaping a healthy democracy. Media is the backbone of a democracy, making us aware of various social, political and economic activities happening around the world. But when the media becomes biased, it loses its credibility.

Recently, a Delhi youth caught ABP news reporters doing biased reporting on the Citizenship Amendment Act in Delhi. He made a video while news reporters were doing biased reporting on CAA. The video has surfaced on social media. The video circulating on social media shows ABP news reporters doing biased reporting on CAA in Delhi where the violence broke out after anti-CAA protesters attacked Hindus against a new citizenship law.

In the video, one ABP news reporter can be seen threatening to beat a Delhi man who just tried to stop ABP news from doing biased reporting on CAA. The language used by the ABP news reporter could not be accepted as a fair journalism language.

Delhi man accused ABP news of doing biased reporting on CAA and said, “You are not supposed to do biased reporting on CAA”. He asked news reporters to visit the area where anti-CAA protesters torched houses, shops, and vehicles. He asked them to meet people who were attacked by people opposing the new act.

Hot words were exchanged between Delhi man and ABP news. Instead of becoming unbiased on CAA, ABP news shouted at the man and threatened to beat him. But the brave man, citing article 19 of the Indian constitution, said to ABP news, “If you have right to express your opinion, I too have right to express my opinion”. “Do not become biased on the Citizenship Amendment Act”, he added.

In a democratic country, the media is supposed to remain neutral and unbiased on any issues. Here, ABP News is trying to project itself as neutral but seems to be biased in favour of CAA.

As for violent protests in Delhi, Delhi is burning since clashes broke out between pro and anti-CAA protesters in northeast Delhi. Violence broke out in north-east Delhi on Monday in which over 30 people have been killed and more than 200 have been injured. anti-CAA protesters set houses, shops, vehicles on fire in Delhi, leaving many pro-CAA people dead and several others injured. However, the violent situation has been brought under control after security personnel were deployed in several areas of North-East Delhi in the wake of incidents of violence and arson in the past three days.
