In a heartbreaking incident, a five-month-old baby girl, who was allegedly raped by her cousin, passed away at a Lucknow hospital in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Pappu and there is no information on his age yet.
As per a report in news agency IANS, the baby girl was sexually assaulted by her cousin brother on Sunday. She was then rushed to a hospital on the same day but she passed away at the time of treatment.
As per the reports, the shocking incident took place when a wedding was underway at a marriage hall under Mandiaon police station limit. The baby’s mother came to the place from Hardoi district to attend the wedding.
The baby’s cousin Pappu took her away on the pretext of playing with her but did not return after some time. After Pappu was nowhere to be seen at the wedding venue, the baby’s mother and relatives started searching for her.
After over four hours of the search operation, they learnt that the baby was found near the venue. The baby girl was lying at the spot in a critical condition.
The baby was quickly taken to the nearby Vivekanand hospital from where she was directed to the trauma centre. Unfortunately, the baby died during the treatment at the hospital. The police said that the accused Pappu fled the spot after committing the crime.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP women crime) said that they are giving absolutely everything to arrest the accused and the latest development is that the body of the victim ahs been sent for autopsy.
Police have also registered a case after a complaint was given by the baby’s father. “We are trying to arrest the accused. The body of the victim has been sent for autopsy,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP women crime).
Even after bringing so many strict laws like POCSO to prevent crimes against children, there seems to be no end in crimes against minors.
