DRDO develops unmanned ground vehicles to protect army personnel from terror attacks, let’s salute them

Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) scientists never cease to amaze us with interesting discoveries as they think beyond human imagination. Our scientists have achieved a major milestone in the field of technology. This is the reason why they are praised for being smart in their approach.

After the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF jawans were martyred in February last year, many questions were raised about the security of the soldiers. Just then DRDO scientists thought of developing unmanned ground vehicles. Now, DRDO scientists have developed a driver less car which will be used by our CRPF and Army personnel. The car includes a variety of sensors to perceive their surroundings, such as radar, lidar, sonar, GPS, odometry and inertial measurement units. The car will protect Indian soldiers from terror attacks.

Recently, DefExpo 2020 was held in Lucknow. As many as 1028 companies participated in the event. The driver less car was displayed at the event. According to sources, driver less cars will soon be inducted into the Indian army that will further strengthen the capability of Indian army.

These cars are indigenously produced by DRDO which put India in the elite club of countries. Very few countries have this kind of technology. These cars are going through trials.

Unmanned ground vehicles can be sent on a mission to get basic information. The interesting thing about this vehicle is that it does not need a driver. It can go to any place to get inputs. Apart from this, GPS is also installed in it to navigate the vehicle. There is no requirement of human drivers to take control as the car combines sensors and software to control, navigate, and drive the vehicle.

It is also said that the unmanned car can also navigate unmapped roads. More automated cars are being developed by the DRDO. The army plans to procure unmanned cars and after getting these cars, India will be among few countries who have this kind of technology.
