Today, election date has been announced for the Delhi Assembly elections. Voting will take place in a single phase on 8 February 2020, while the results will be declared on 11 February, the Election Commission of India said today. According to a list, published by Election Commission, 1.46 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in the upcoming election.
The ruling party of the capital ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ will once again face the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress in the election. The term of Delhi Assembly will be ending on February 22 and a new government has to be formed before that. Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was voted to power in the year 2015. Kejriwal party managed to win 67 of the 70 Assembly seats.

Scrutiny of nominations: January 22
Last date for withdrawal of candidature: January 24
Date of Poll: February 8
Counting of votes: February 11
After the announcement of Delhi assembly polls, AAP, BJP, and Congress are all set to address rallies across Delhi. All parties will make promises to the public of Delhi.
CEC Sunil Arora on the situation in Delhi: “We are hopeful that situation will be under control and conducive for polls. If there is an extraordinary situation, there is always an option of deferring the polls. Constitution empowers ECI to take the call”.
While Home Minister Amit Shah said “People of Delhi will defeat the government which has misled everyone for 5 years and will form a govt under PM Modi,” CM Kejriwal said, “We have full faith that everyone will vote on the basis of work done for the people of Delhi.”
Which party will form the government in Delhi will depend on the mood of Delhi’s people.
