“You will pay for the losses in UP, your properties will be sealed”, CM Yogi warns agitators

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s warning came in the aftermath of protest that broke out in Lucknow on Thursday. As the protest has erupted in many parts of India over controversial Citizenship bill, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath alleged that the opposition parties are provoking people for violence in the name of protests in state and misleading people about citizenship amendment act.

Speaking to media in Lucknow, Yogi Adityanath said that strict action would be taken against those who indulge in violence in the state and their properties would be seized.

He stated that his government will not tolerate the violence at any cost and concrete action will be taken against those who are involved in demonstration and stone-pelting during the protest.

Although, section 144 has been imposed in the entire state after reviewing the situation. The anti-citizenship protesters allegedly attempted to set fire to a police station in Lucknow.

A crowd of agitators clashed with police in state Capital Lucknow and set few vehicles on fire including 2 roadways buses. Anti-citizenship protesters pelted stones at the cops, leaving some police personnel injured.

“I have called a meeting over this. You cannot indulge in violence in the name of protest. We will take strict action against such elements. Will seize the property of those found guilty and compensate damage to public property,” Yogi Adityanath was quoted as saying by ANI.

Yogi Adityanath also accused the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) of “misleading” people on the Citizenship Amendment Act. Internet service has been cut off in many parts of the state.

“There is no place for violence in a democracy. In the name of opposing the CAA, the Congress, SP and Left parties have pushed the entire country to fire. “There was violence in Lucknow and Sambhal and we will deal with it strictly. All properties of those involved in damaging public assets will be seized and auctioned to compensate for the losses,” CM Yogi Adityanath said.
