In latest news, a 45-year-old man was awarded life term by a Pocso (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences) court in Siddharthnagar in 5 days for raping his 13-year-old daughter in Uttar Pradesh’s Siddharthnagar district on December 17.
Additional district judge (Pocso Act) Ram Chandra had convicted the man in a record five days of taking note of the charge-sheet in the case.
The 13-year-old girl was raped by her father on October 15 and the police booked the man under different sections of Pocso Act and the IPC and filed the charge sheet on November 13.
The court also took note of it on November 18 and then convicted the accused on November 23 with life imprisonment besides imposing Rs 20,000 fine on him.
“We wanted to set an example in this case. I have also asked officials concerned to expedite other similar cases in the district,” SP of Siddharthnagar Vijay Dhull was quoted as saying by HT.
This isn’t the first time that a father was caught raping his daughter. Eight months ago, a 42-year-old man was detained on the charges of raping his four-year-old daughter after feeding her alcohol. This incident took place in Villivakkam.
The man identified as Ebenezer was a marine engineer in Dubai where he worked there for five years. Then he returned to his home in Chennai last year. His wife worked at a salon parlour in the same area.
As Ebenezer was unable to find employment in the city, he starting drinking liquor and slowly his daily habits changed.
On Monday, while his wife was at the salon parlour, Ebenezer allegedly consumed alcohol and even forced his four-year-old daughter to drink the same.
“After the child became unconscious, he raped her,” an investigating officer said.
When his wife just returned from work in the evening, she found her daughter totally ‘unconscious and bleeding’.
When she further questioned her husband, the jobless man said the child could have been got hurt in a fall.
She also took the child to a nearby local hospital, where doctors confirmed that the child has been forced to fed alcohol and then was raped.
Annoyed by her husband’s act, she lodged a complaint with the Rajamangalam police.
A case was filed under Pocso Act and the culprit will be remanded on Wednesday morning. However, he admitted to having raped his daughter.
