The number of women falling in love with Pakistani men on the internet and the arriving in the country in order to live with them has increased in the recent past. Several such cases were reported in the local media so far.
Indonesian woman left Pakistan after being cheated by a Pakistani man, who had promised her a ‘bright future’ here on a popular social networking website.
The woman identified as Murnianingsih Nannag Syarif (37) arrived in Lahore on May 13 to marry a Bahawalpur man whom she fell in love with on social media site ‘Facebook’.
In a shocking turn of events, the said person did not actually take her to his native town and married her in the provincial capital of Punjab. Then he parted ways with the woman only after a few days into the marriage life ‘domestic liabilities’.
The poor woman was left alone at the Lahore airport with all her money taken away by her Pakistani husband. She spent three days in the waiting area of the airport, crying and cursing her ‘lover’.
Soon after receiving the cash transferred by her family in Indonesia, Syarif had bought the ticket and left for her country in the morning.
