Meet Tamanna- The woman entrepreneur who turned ₹5k into ₹1 crore within 2 years

Those were days when boys were tasked with prime responsibilities to run the family as they were considered as ‘major backbones’. They go to offices, stress a lot and work without seeing clock needles to earn wages either daily, weekly or on a monthly basis.

On the contrary, it was not the same case for women as they were forced to follow stringent rules before and after marriage. They had very limited opportunities to study and were always inferior to men. They never really had the liberty to do what men were doing and hence they became homemakers.

However, in the male-dominated society, women are defying all odds to touch the pinnacle of success. Today, we will learn about the story of Tamanna Mordani who successfully managed to turn a small amount of money to a large sum. Obviously, the people with the best money conversion rate are entrepreneurs and Tamanna proved why she is cut above the rest of the women in India of her age.

It was in 2017, she was plying her trade for the company that hadn’t paid wages for six months. She was someone who plans every day of her life smartly and was left clueless. next step. Just as when she was thinking what would be her next step, she made her up her mind to join her colleague Karan Badkar.

Today, she runs two companies: Envision, which primarily focuses on bringing international entertainment artistes, IPs, and concept-based festivals to our country and Thinkclusive, which is a brand solutions outfit. Quite interestingly, the two of them started it by investing just Rs 5,000 to get a basic contract for purchasing email IDs.

Success followed the duo around like a shadow when they bagged their first consultancy project soon after from which they earned around Rs 1 lakh, which was invested into company branding and stationery. Its turnover now stands for Rs 1 crore. The 27-year-old woman who hails from Shillong moved to Mumbai to do her graduation in Mass Communication with a specialisation in advertising and marketing from St Xavier’s College.

“From pitching for big products from the dining table at home to working out of a dedicated office space, Envision has certainly become the dream we envisioned,” says Tamanna. She says the thrill of entrepreneurship is different and has to be experienced to be believed. “When I was working for different organisations, I was happy but not 100 percent content.

Sure, you get your money on time and have a functional life but there is no thrill to it. I always knew my calling was different and the words, ‘founder/owner’ carried in them the dream I always had.” “We have two core offerings – we are in the business of brand solutions and work with clients to curate, create, and put together concept-driven events and launches. Our second startup is involved in booking some of the biggest international artistes for the Indian market and also franchises successful international IPs into India,” she adds.

It is worth mentioning here that Envision has hosted shows with artistes like the famous Martin Garrix, Armin Van Buuren, Timmy Trumpet, Nervo, and many more. At the end of November, the company would introduce the renowned DJ Afrojack to Hyderabad hoping to achieve a big target, a ticket audience of more than 8,000 people.

When asked about her challenging and tough moments, Tamanna said: “Starting out in a big city like Mumbai, which is also competitive and with almost nothing should be one of the lowest points I faced. Also, it would be about figuring a path for myself when I hit a roadblock. I would not call all defining moments as an absolute success but as moments of fulfilment that remind me that I am doing something different.”

“Our biggest competitor would be ourselves and just making sure we get better and bigger by each year. I believe if you are 100 per cent committed and sure of what you want if you invest in your personal belief system, all the hurdles you face only ensure you rise higher as you overcome them,” Tamanna says.
