Story of Karnataka girl- She set a world record by becoming the fastest blindfolded female skater

In a nation where women are still finding it hard to make their way into the sports field, Ojal Nalavade has set an example by choosing skating. Now, she is inspiring a thousand other girls to follow suit. Creating a record is not something new for a talent like Ojal. She has already set eight more records as she etched her name in the Asia Book of Records, India Book of Records.

Guess her age? She is only 14 years old and she is weaving the magic in the sport which she truly loves the most. Hailing from Hubli in Karnataka, she scripted history as she skated her way into the Guinness Book of World Records and did the entire nation proud. She is a proud student of JDS High School and studies in class 7. She was given 3 attempts of 60 seconds to set a new record in this sport.

As per the officials from the Guinness Book of World Records, she is the fastest blindfold skater in the world, in the 400-meter category. She set the new record of fastest blindfolded skating (female) on the TenderSURE road in Shirur Park area. Citizens were impressed by Ojal’s amazing performance. Yes, it is truly a remarkable achievement. Despite not being able to see even a single thing, she still skated with grit and determination.

The ever-so-talented girl gave a record-breaking performance in under 60 seconds. “Skating fast with a blindfold is a rarity. She has achieved it with determination and hard work,” her coach, Akshay Suryawanshi, told The New Indian Express, adding that she would practice early morning every day with steely determination.

My parents, coach and family were a big support. I shall achieve more with their support in the future,” Ojal told the media, expressing her gratitude to everyone

Sunil who is her proud father in an interview with TOI said that his daughter’s love and passion for the sport is only increasing by the day. He is indeed pleased to see her performance so far and he wants to see her achieve greater strides in this stream.
