There is no hiding to the fact that women are giving everything to stun the audience and they must be given credit for their notable contribution. The winners of the 66th National Film Awards were announced at Shastri Bhawan in the national capital. 1.Keerthy Suresh

A notable actress from South India, Keerthy is a familiar face in Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu films. She won National Film Award for Best Actress for portraying actress ‘Savitri’ in the biopic Mahanati. Keerthy Suresh is the daughter of producer Suresh Kumar and actress Menaka.

2.Bindu Malini

This popular music composer and director bagged the National Film Award 2019 for Best Female Playback Singer for the movie Nathicharami. It is now available on Netflix.

3.Surekha Sikri

‘Daadisa’ from Balika Vadhu, who won people’s hearts with her role in Badhaai Ho, was awarded the Best Supporting Actress for the same. The movie’s sequel was also announced recently and the fans can’t just wait for it. The 74-year-old actress had recently experienced stroke and we wish her a speedy recovery.

4&5.Indrakshi Pattanaik and Archana Rao

Based on the life story of South India’s most admired actress, Mahanati won the Best Costumes Award, an accolade jointly held by Indrakshi Pattanaik, Archana Rao, and Gaurang Shah.

6. Priya Krishnaswamy

Priya Krishnaswamy was awarded the coveted trophy for the Best Tamil Feature Film, Baaram which is director Priya Krishnaswamy’s blockbuster and has also received applause all over the nation for its subject matter and core values-a haunting take on senicide (involuntary euthanasia for the ailing elderly people) in a Tamil Nadu village.

7. Manju Borah

Multiple national and international award-winning filmmaker Manju Borah got featured in the list as he won the Best Pangchenpa Feature Film Award for ‘In The Land Of Poison Women’. Her other significant works include Aakashitarar Kathare and Baibhab.

8.Rima Das

Screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, the movie ‘Bulbul Can Sing’ by filmmaker Rima Das clinched Best Assamese Feature Film with its script about 3 young female protagonists coming of age and then trying to come to terms with their sexual identities.

9 &10. Kruti Mahesh Madya and Jyothi D Tommaar

Choreographers- Jyoti Tomar and Dance India Dance-fame Kruti Mahesh Madya bagged the Best Choreography Award for their stellar contribution in the song ‘Ghoomar’ from the movie ‘Padmaavat’.
