Pakistan Federal Minister for Science and Technology identified as Fawad Chaudhry who was recently trolled on social media for spelling ‘Satellite’ as ‘Sattelite’ has officially announced that the nation would send its first astronaut to space by the year 2022 with the help of its close ally China.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology mocked India as soon as ISRO lost communication with its lander Vikram. He took to his Twitter to troll India and then he ended up getting roasted by Indians.
Previously on Sunday, the minister said that the recruitment process for the astronaut would start in the year 2020. Pakistan’s close ally China would cooperate with Pakistan in its space mission, Fawad was quoted as saying by the News International reported.
He also said that initially, as many as 50 individuals would be picked after which the list will be cut short to 25 in 2022. And out of them only 1 would be sent to space. The Pakistan Air Force would play a significant role in the selection process of the astronaut, the report added.
He also added that collaboration of Pakistan and India in the fields of science and technology could prove productive for the region. Fawad recalled that Pakistan was the second in Asia after the then Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), which sent its rocket into the space in 1963.
The Pakistan Space Science Education Center played a big part in promoting space sciences in the country, he said. In 2018, Pakistan launched two indigenously-built satellites into the orbit with the help of Chinese launch vehicle.
The satellites were launched onboard the Chinese Long March (LM-2C) rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre at the Gobi desert, China, as reported by The Express Tribune.
One of them was known to be a remote sensing satellite (PRSS1) which serves as dual-purpose- Earth observational and optical satellite. The second test satellite launched was a PAK-TES-1A to amplify satellite manufacture capabilities in the nation.
