MS Dhoni likely to unfurl tricolour in Ladakh this Independence day on August 15

Former Indian captain and Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is currently serving with the Indian Army in the frontlines in Jammu and Kashmir could be in for a grand honour this August 15 on Independence Day.

MS Dhoni in the Indian Army is expected to unfurl the tricolour on the special occasion in Leh in the newly-created union territory of Ladakh, according to the reports.

ANS quoting defence sources reported that the honorary lieutenant colonel Dhoni is scheduled to travel along with his regiment to Leh on August 10.

However, the officials did not reveal exact location at which Mahendra Singh Dhoni is likely to hoist the national flag on August 15. .

Dhoni, an honorary lieutenant colonel is currently posted in Khrew in the Pulwama district of Jammu & Kashmir, along with members of his battalion.

“Dhoni is a brand ambassador of the Indian Army. He has engaged in motivating members of his unit and has often been playing football and volleyball with the soldiers. He is also undertaking battle training exercises with the corps. He will remain in the valley till August 15,” senior army official added.

This Independence Day is important for Ladakh as it the first since the Buddhist majority region was declared a union territory, fulfilling the long-standing demand of the citizens.

Dhoni is probably enjoying the best days of his life after he started serving his regiment. He has been spending some quality time with his fellow soldiers.

Recently, he played volleyball with key members of his Territorial Army battalion. The video also went viral on social media. Now, he switched his focus to something else. He sang a famous Bollywood song “main pal do pal ka shayar hun” from the movie “Kabhi Kabhie” and entertained the soldiers.

Captain Cool will be staying with his 106 TA Battalion (Para) till August 15 and has also undertaken duties of patrolling, guarding and post duties with the troops.
