Indian Daughter Hima Das wins 3rd Gold in just 11 days, Let’s Appreciate her

There is no stopping Hima Das. She once again proved why she is the golden girl of India. The country’s ace sprinter grew from strength to strength and claimed her third international gold after she bagged the top spot in women’s 200m event at the Kladno Memorial Athletics Meet in at Kladno on Saturday.

Interestingly, this is Hima Das’ third international gold inside two weeks. For the unversed, she won a gold medal in the 200-metre category of the Kunto Athletics meet in Poland on July 7.

On Saturday, Hima Das clocked 23.43 seconds to seal the top honours in Czech Republic. On the contrary, Muhammed Anas Yahiya brought out the best in himself only to set a national record to bag a gold medal in the men’s 400m race, clocking 45.21 sec.

In Hima Das’ first-ever competitive 200m race of the year on July 2, Das clocked 23.65 sec to seal the gold at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix, also in Poland.

After which, Hima Das continued her winning prowess as she won her second 200m gold at the Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland on July 8. She clocked 23.97 seconds to win the gold whereas Kerala runner VK Vismaya settled for silver with a timing of 24.06 seconds.

It is so pleasing that the World junior champion Hima Das has been setting and breaking records.

She has a personal best timing of 23.10 seconds, which she recorded last year. On the dark side, Hima Das has been struggling with a back niggle. Despite all such setbacks, she overcame the problem in her recovery time and then showcased her mettle on the track. The Assam sprinter is also the reigning world junior champion and also a national recorder holder in 400 metre.

Earlier in Kunto Athletics meet in Poland, Hima Das clocked 23.97 seconds to finish ahead of VK Vismaya, who clocked 24.06 to settle for the silver medal.
