India honoured the commando by conferring the Ashok Chakra on him posthumously during the Republic Day celebrations in 2018. For the unversed, Ashok Chakra is the highest peacetime gallantry award that is awarded in India.

Now, his fellow soldiers from the Indian Air Force’s Garud Commando Force honoured the martyr by assisting in the wedding of his sister in Patna.

Nirala was the only son in the family which has four daughters. The family had come under financial pressure in the aftermath of Nirala’s martyrdom.

The family was finding it quite tough to ensure the funds for the marriage of Nirala’s sister.

It was when Garud commandos stepped forward to help their colleague, who had laid down his life the line of duty.

It has been reported that each commando in the force had contributed Rs 500 each and in this approach, overall Rs 5 lakhs were collected. The funds were then used to organise the marriage of Nirala’s sister.

In pictures that spread like wildfire on social media, some of the commandos can be seen making the bride walk on their palms as a token of respect.

While the touching gesture garnered a lot of praise on the social media, it has also threw light on the fact that families of security personnel face financial constraints after their earning member passes away in the line of duty.
