On Monday, hair-dressing businessman Jawed Habib officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Quite interestingly, his company operates 846 hair and beauty salons in 110 cities across the nation.
Keeping up with the Saffron party’s slogan declaring “Main Bhi Chowkidar” or I Too Am a Watchman, Habib added, “Until today, I was the watchman of hair, but now I have become a watchman of the nation.”
Habib entry into the BJP sparked a string of memes on social media, featuring party leaders with trendy hairstyles. The most popular one, perhaps, has been a photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with party’s national president Amit Shah.
Other BJP leaders given a complete transformation by Twitter users included Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Even vocal BJP supporter, actor Anupam Kher was targeted. Check this out:
Habib’s move also inspired one-liners on social media platforms. Take a look.
Jawed Habib’s commitment to join the BJP seemed ironic, given the fact that the last time he was in the news was for a controversial reason in September 2017 when he was forced to provide an apology after being assaulted by Hindutva supporters for a company advertisement that was allegedly “insulting and demeaning” to Hindu gods.
