Good news: Bajrang Punia regains his spot at the top of the World Rankings

What else do we want from our Indian athlete Bajrang Punia? Time and time again, he is proving that he is worth the weight in gold by winning medals. Let’s take a moment to appreciate Bajrang Punia.

In sensational news, Bajrang Punia carved out a reputation for himself as a successful wrestler as he reclaimed the world number one spot in the men’s 65kg freestyle category.

Bajrang Punia once again showed the world what he is capable of. The 25-year-old who won a gold medal in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games including silver in the World Championships in 2018, garnered 58 points ahead of Akhmed Chakaev of Russia.

Bajrang, who is currently making himself ready for the Asian Wrestling Championship which is to be held in China from April 23, had first reached the world No.1 spot in November last year. He won gold at the Dan Kolov-Nikola Petrov tournament held in Bulgaria last month.

The talented wrestler bagged silver in the 61 kg category four years back at the Incheon Asian Games. He won 3 consecutive international gold medals – CWG (Gold Coast), Tbilisi Grand Prix (Georgia) and Yasar Dogu International (Istanbul) before the Asian Games.
