Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman goes to meet her rival Sashi Tharoor, wishes fast recovery

Congress leader and candidate Shashi Tharoor picked up an injury on Monday during a religious ritual at a temple in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram. One day later, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman paid a visit to Shashi Tharoor. This gesture proves there is humanity above politics.

Yes, there may be stiff competition between the political parties. In the end, they are all humans and this time humanity won it. Extremely touched by the gesture, Tharoor posted the image of Nirmala Sitharaman greeting him in the hospital.

“Touched by the gesture of @nsitharaman, who dropped by today morning to visit me in the hospital, amid her hectic electioneering in Kerala. Civility is a rare virtue in Indian politics – great to see her practice it by example! (sic),” wrote Shashi Tharoor.
