Give them jobs, not money: Mayawati attacks Rahul Gandhi

BSP supremo Mayawati launched a scathing attack at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi for his recent big promises. Very recently, Rahul Gandhi announced minimum income guarantee scheme ‘Nyay’ which aims to provide Rs.72,000 annual income (Rs 6,000 per month) to 20% of those who come from economically backward sections of the society if the party is voted to power.

This scheme is likely to benefit at least 5 crore families across the nation. Any family earning less than Rs 12,000 a month will receive the amount up to Rs.6,000 under the plan. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said the party has been working really hard on the significant Nyay scheme for the last 4-5 months and also held several meetings with many economists.

“This scheme will benefit at least 25 crore individuals or 5 crore families. Congress party cannot accept poverty in the country. This is the final assault on poverty. The politics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made two India, one is for the poor and the second for the rich. We want one India where the poor can also live with dignity,” Congress President said while making the announcement.

Rahul said that Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) had benefited around 14 crore individuals to eradicate poverty and Nyay scheme would also benefit the ones who come from lower economic strata, which will be Congress party’s second phase of poverty elimination attempt.

Reacting to this, Mayawati hit out at both Congress and BJP highlighting the two parties were responsible for the high scale of poverty and unemployment in the country.

“Ruling BJP calling Congress slogan of Garibi Hatao 2.0 as bluff is true. But is poll bluff and reneging of poll promises the sole domain of the BJP? In fact, BJP and Congress party are both birds of the same feather in betraying the interests of the poor, labourers, farmers and others,” Mayawati, the chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), tweeted.
