2 Hindu girls kidnapped, forced to convert to Islam on the occasion of Holi, in Pak Punjab

In yet another shocking news in Pakistan’s Sidh’s district, two Hindu teenaged girls were allegedly abducted and forcibly converted to Islam on Holi eve in Dharki town after which the Hindu community came out on the streets to protest, seeking strict action against the accused and also reminding Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan of his assurance to minorities in the country.

Pakistan Hindu Sewa Welfare Trust Sanjesh Dhanja President told TOI over the phone from Karachi on Friday that two sisters namely Raveena (13) and Poona (15) were allegedly kidnapped and forcibly converted to Islam after their marriage.

Imran Khan’s recent tweet sparked a massive backlash on Twitter. “Naya Pakistan is Quaid’s (Jinnah) Pakistan and we will ensure that our minorities are treated as equal citizens, unlike what is happening in India.”

Anjum James Paul, assistant professor of political science and head of department Government Post Graduate College in Samundri, Pakistan posted a sharp statement in response to Imran Khan on his Facebook page: “And now who will stand (up) for Reena. Raveena and Sadaf Khan. Hindu and Christian Pakistani minor girls. who have been snatched from parents after abduction and conversion in February and March”

Stressing on stopping forced conversions and marriages of ‘minor Christian and Hindu girls in Pakistan’, he urged Pakistan PM to stand up against the violation of minority rights in his country.

Reminding the Pakistan PM of his promise “to protect the rights of religious minorities’ made during the election campaign in 2018. he said, “the situation is the same even in New Pakistan and religious minorities are suffering due to discrimination and persecution”

He said the two sisters were kidnapped, converted when they were celebrating Holi on March 20 while 13-year-old Christian girl by the name of Sadaf Khan was abducted. converted and forcibly married on February 6. Dhanja further said adding that two other Hindu girls- Komal and Sonia were abducted and forcibly converted.
