Annoyed by Kejriwal, Congress refuses any alliance with AAP in Delhi, will fight alone

In an interesting turn of events, the Congress will not join hands with the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit told reporters at the press conference on Tuesday. “A unanimous decision has been taken that there will be no alliance in Delhi,” Dikshit further clarified about the decision.

The official announcement by Dikshit comes after a meeting with Congress president Rahul Gandhi. On the contrary, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal hit back at Congress for not forming an alliance with AAP and stressed on the matter that this decision will only split anti-BJP votes.

“At a time when the whole country wants to defeat Modi- Shah duo, Cong is helping BJP by splitting the anti-BJP vote. Rumours r that Cong has some secret understanding wid BJP. Delhi is ready to fight against Cong-BJP alliance. People will defeat this unholy alliance,” tweeted the AAP leader.

AAP had earlier announced names of its candidates for 6 Lok Sabha constituencies in the national capital a couple of days ago and was en route to announcing the name of another candidate for the last Lok Sabha constituency in Delhi. FYI, AAP came to power in 2013 by outsmarting the Congress govt.
