Karachi Bakery forced to cover ‘Karachi’ over Pulwama terror blast

Karachi Bakery is a popular outlet chain and it is well known for producing some of the finest cookies and bakery products. The ever-so-popular name originated from Pakistan’s Karachi city as the chain was founded by a ‘Sindhi’ who migrated to India during the split-up in the year 1947.

But, the Karachi Bakery outlet in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar area came under fire recently as the protesters were annoyed with the bakery’s name just because it has a Pakistani city’s name.

The shocking incident happened on Friday evening when a mob surrounded the bakery’s 100 Feet Road outlet in Bengaluru city asking the outlet to pull down its board that has the caption ‘Karachi’. Fearing violence, the store owners covered the ‘Karachi’ part on their board. The protests are mainly because of the dastardly Pulwama terror attack that was executed on February 14.

At least 44 CRPF personnel were martyred and several others were injured when a Jaish suicide bomber rammed a vehicle carrying over 350 kg of explosives into a CRPF convoy of 70 vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, in what is considered as the deadliest attack in the last 3 decades. India paid tribute to the Jawans who lost their lives.
