This Engineering graduate delivering food shows the sad reality of Unemployment

Educated youths reaching the restaurants and picking up food only to deliver it at your doorstep is not something new in our country. In fact, it reflects the sad example of unemployment in India. There are countless educated youths who have done two degrees (UG and PG) but still getting a job seems to be a big ask these days.

In a recent incident, a Reddit user posted about a delivery boy who has a postgraduate degree in Engineering. The post went on to say, “the person can speak Hindi. He is from Maharashtra. He has completed his post graduation in Engineering.”

FYI, the food delivery app allows its customers to know basic details about the delivery agent and the Reddit user was moved by the guy’s condition when he got to know about his educational qualification. He thinks that the delivery boy is overqualified to be doing that job.

This incident came to light after a report that reflects the reality of the unemployment rate in India at a 45-year-high of 6.1% in 2017-’18. The report went on to show that the unemployment rate among the youth was at a higher level as compared to previous years and “much higher compared to that in the overall population”.

One more shocking report revealed that people with educational qualifications like M.Tech, B.Tech, and MBA, postgraduates including the graduates have applied for posts of ‘sweepers and sanitary workers’ in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Secretariat. This clearly shows the ugly face of unemployment.
