Goa CM Manohar Parrikar made the headlines recently when he gave a bold statement about his commitment towards his state. “I promise that I will serve Goa with sincerity, integrity, and dedication until my last breath,” Parrikar added in the Goa assembly. “There is a josh, that is too high and I’m fully in hosh.”
Rahul Gandhi recently visited Manohar Parrikar in Goa on Tuesday. Later in the day, the Congress chief told his workers: Parrikar had said that he had nothing to do with the ‘new (Rafale) deal’ that was “set up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a bid to benefit Anil Ambani”.
Manohar Parrikar wrote to Rahul Gandhi blaming him of using his visit for “petty political gains”. “In the five minutes you spent with me, neither did you mention anything about Rafale, now did we discuss anything related to it,” Parrikar wrote.
The meeting between the two came just a day after Rahul Gandhi stirred up a controversial audio clip in which a Goa CM is heard talking about how Manohar Parrikar boasted about keeping files and other documents related to the Rafale deal in his bedroom.
“It’s obvious that the tapes are authentic & that Goa CM, Parrikar, is in possession of explosive RAFALE secrets, that gives him power over the PM,” Rahul Gandhi had tweeted yesterday, talking about the controversial audio tape.
The Goa minister who was allegedly heard on the tape- Vishwajit Rane has said that the audio clip is not genuine according to IndiaToday.
Despite suffering from cancer and not taking bed rest, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar presented the state’s budget Parrikar has been under the weather for around a year. However, last year, he went to the United States and undergone treatment for advanced pancreatic cancer. Manohar Parrikar spent roughly around 3 months in the US and then returned home in June last year.
Ever since his arrival, he has been actively involved in his state’s administration works. The Opposition Congress raised questions whether Parrikar can productively govern the state, given the bad condition of his health.
However, Manohar Parrikar presented the Goa budget in the state assembly, while sitting in his chair with a nasogastric tube inserted through his nose.
