“I have strongly advocated the 1 or 2 children norm in the past. However, the present situation demands us to revisit our population control policy and make required changes in laws. Naidu said, adding that Andhra Pradesh was a victim of adapting to the population control norm as the Centre’s fund distribution policies favoured states that had excess population.

The CM went on to add that the country’s youth population was its core strength, saying that India needed to have more young population in a bid to outsmart growing countries in growth rate. He added there was a need to boost our population to achieve better economic growth rate because Countries like China and Japan were facing issues with sudden fall in population growth according to him.

Naidu noticed that young couples should not stop to have more children as it would lead to a joint family system. According to him, the youngsters were facing stress-related problems due to the micro family system. The CM then encouraged the women to have more children and to achieve financial empowerment.
