In an interesting turn of events, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad was also seen seated on the 2nd row behind the Congress president, good promotion for him and he was also seated next to Gandhi in the 6th row.

A huge controversy broke down after Rahul Gandhi was relegated to sit in the sixth row at the 2018 Republic Day celebrations since he had taken over the post of party president from mother Sonia Gandhi.

Calling it as “cheap politics”, the Congress party claimed that all their presidents were seated in the front row at the Rajpath parade. Previously in the day, Rahul Gandhi wished the countrymen on the occasion of this Republic Day.
