Nagpur man reports theft case, asks Police to find his ‘stolen heart’

Policemen have seen quite a lot of interesting as well as challenging cases over the years but little did they know that they would scratch their heads with confusion. Probably for the first time ever, policemen in Nagpur found themselves in a weird situation when a youth came rushing to them only to register a complaint- to find his “stolen heart”.

The incident happened in one of the police stations in Nagpur, according to a senior official. The youth wanted to lodge a complaint mentioning that a girl has “stolen” his heart and the policemen should try to find out and get it back.

Police personnel are familiar with complaints about stolen items, but this ‘stolen heart’ case is something strange which put the police station in-charge in utter chaos. He even contacted his senior officials for tips in sorting it out.

However, his superiors discussed the matter and came to a firm conclusion that there is no such section under Indian laws that qualify as a complaint. After discussion, the policemen told the youth they don’t have a solution to his complaint and turned him away.

This strange incident was shared by Nagpur Police Commissioner Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay during a programme where the police department returned stolen articles worth Rs 82 lakh to their respective owners.

Addressing the media, Upadhyay said, “We can return stolen articles, but sometimes we also get such complaints which even we cannot solve.”
