The Accidental Prime Minister falls into huge trouble, Lawyer files case against lead actors

Ever since the trailer of The Accidental Prime Minister has been out, it spread like wildfire on social media. As per the book of the same name by Singh’s media advisor Sanjaya Baru, the book, similar to the trailer, was controversial.

The movie depicts the political career of Dr Manmohan Singh and the film is now being called anti-Congress propaganda and it has annoyed Congress. Yesterday, the trailer of the upcoming film was apparently removed from YouTube. Anupam Kher, talking about the same, had criticized the platform in a tweet.

“Dear @YouTube!!! I am getting messages & calls that in parts of our country if you type, trailer of #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister, it is either not appearing or at 50th position. We were trending at No.1 yday. Please help. #HappyNewYear. #37millionviews ?,” Anupam Kher tweeted.

The movie’s trailer has landed into a blowtorch situation as it had raised political temperatures in the nation with Congress questioning BJP’s reason behind promoting the movie and also raised objections to “incorrect presentation of facts”- The political party then demanded a ‘private screening’ before the movie hit the screens.

Regarding this, Anupam Kher who plays the main role said that even though he wants Manmohan Singh to watch the movie first, he can’t allow Congress to attend a special screening of the film.

On the contrary, Anupam Kher’s wife, even before the launch of the movie, has stated that she reckons that the movie should be India’s official clear-cut entry to Oscars this year.

While the movie’s trailer raised temperatures at one end and with political debate on the movie is still on, a case has been filed against actor Anupam Kher and 14 others connected with the movie in a Bihar court for damaging the credibility of some top bureaucrats.

It has been learnt that the Lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha has filed the case in Muzaffarpur’s Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court. The case will be heard in Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate court on January 8.

Lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha, in his petition, complained that Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna, who have portrayed the role of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his press advisor Sanjaya Baru in the film, have damaged the reputation of both of them. “It hurt me and many others,” he said.

Ojha said others who have portrayed the role of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra also ruined their reputation. In addition to that, he has also complained against the film director and producer.
