Video of Heartbroken farmer crying at collector’s feet goes viral on social media

A heart-wrenching video of a 30-year-old farmer touching the Shivpuri collector’s feet and seeking her intervention concerning a delay in installation of a transformer at his farm after 6 months of his application is rife on social media platforms.

The farmer identified as Ajeet is a local resident of Shivpuri’s Ranaud village. He had gone to the district collectorate carrying some wheat crop. He waited there to meet the higher authorities from noon to 2 pm.

Later on, when the collector came out of the office, he broke down in tears and shared an unpleasant experience. He said he had deposited a fee of Rs 40.000 to the local electricity department over the installation of the transformer at his farm five months ago.

Anugrah P told TOI, “We would extend all possible help and expedite the matter.” he said.

India is primarily an agricultural country. More than 75% of the population depends on agriculture. Farmers are the backbone of the nation. Without them, we cannot survive. They sweat it out day in day out without rest. They are highly involved in tilling the soil, sowing the seeds, watering the fields, reaping and harvesting the crop and then they sell it to the market.

The sad reality is that they are very poor despite giving absolutely everything to the nation They dedicate their whole life for us but themselves live a poor life. Needless to say, they can also be called as the ‘God of the soil’. On the dark side, farmers commit suicides when they feel helpless under mountain pressure of debt.
