German actress Suzanne Bernert is trying her level best to play the role of former Congress president Sonia Gandhi in the upcoming political movie ‘The Accidental Prime Minister‘. Here’s all you need to know about Suzanne Bernet. She is married to actor Akhil Mishra and has contributed to a number of Indian films and TV shows in several languages.

The 35-year-old Bernert speaks Bengali, Marathi and Hindi and is an expert Lavani dancer. For those who don’t know Suzanne, she is quite a familiar face in the Indian television and film industry and has featured in various Hindi films and Television series.

Bernet also became the first ever foreign actor to play antagonist on Indian television in the historical drama Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat. Before spicing it up in the ‘Accidental Prime Minister’, Suzanne has portrayed the role of Sonia Gandhi in a TV series titled ‘Pradhanmantri’ which was hosted by actor Shekhar Kapur.

It should be noted that the actress has also starred with Bollywood actor Aamir Khan in an advertisement. Besides featuring in short films and television show, Bernet also runs a theatre group-‘Vijeta’ with her husband Akhil and was the first foreign celebrity to take part in a Lavani Celebrity Dance Show up to the semi-finals.

As far as her professional front is concerned, the German actress is trying her best to portray the role of Sonai Gandhi in ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ that tracks the making and the unmaking of the former PM. The film is about some of the issues related to the Nehru Gandhi family and how Manmohan Singh faced an unpleasant experience in the internal politics of the Congress party.


The film is based on the book written by Sanjaya Baru, a media advisor of Manmohan Singh. Akshaye Khanna is playing the role of ‘Baru’ and is also narrating the film. Aahana Kumra is playing Priyanka Gandhi, Arjun Mathur is portraying the role of Rahul Gandhi in the film.
