Meet the school principal who cleans toilets for his students, sets an example of ‘purity’

If every individual takes sole responsibility to put the waste in the dustbin at the right place and at the right time, then things would look even better in India. Usually, the sweepers clean the school classrooms, toilets to keep the surroundings neat and clean. But have you seen a school headmaster cleaning the toilets? Yes, you read it right.

B Mahadeshwara Swamy who is a Headmaster of the Government Primary School in Hongahalli, Karnataka usually starts his day by cleaning his school toilets. He did not pay much heed to his personal discomfort as he scrubs the toilets with his unprotected hands. Locals of the area say that Swamy starts his day by cleaning the school toilets and then he maintains the garden followed by cleaning the classrooms too.

According to a report in TOI, a villager said “What makes him special is he ensures that every student takes care of personal hygiene. He also makes every child a part of learning activities, sports, and games. Parents are pleased and are sending their children to school regularly.”

After reading this, you”ll praise Swamy even more. He said that he has been cleaning the school toilets since the year 1988 and he started his first day in the school by cleaning the toilets only. Let’s take a moment to salute him for setting an example of purity.

“I worked there for over 8 years. That stint taught me the importance of personal hygiene and social service. In 1994, I joined the government service, and continued the same approach,” he told TOI.

“It is our duty to clean the places we use. Clean toilets are essential for a healthy life. So, I am continuing this exercise wherever I go,” he added.

As of now, around 121 students are studying in the school and the first thing they say is “We are indeed proud of our headmaster.”

Swamy is doing everything for the students. He cares for them. His works serve as a testament to the fact. He has also splashed too much of money from his own pocket to build a library for students so that the budding prospects would come through with flying colours.
