Indian Railways indirectly trolls Indigo & SpiceJet, check out the recent tweet

Ministry of Railways’ recent tweet has gone viral all over the internet. The tweet came after the domestic carriers namely Indigo and SpiceJet started charging extra bucks for web check-in. So, the Indian Railways took a dig at them by chipping in with a brilliant tweet. Indian Railways tweeted, ‘Why pay a premium for web-check in on flights…when you can just take a train?’

‘No need to pay extra charges for Web-Checkins. No long queues for checking in your luggage. Avoid unreasonable tariff & reduce your carbon footprint by travelling on the good old Indian Railways at affordable rates’, the tweet from the Ministry of Railways said. The post was also shared on the ministry’s Facebook page.

People were clearly annoyed by the airlines as they have started levying charges for web-check in from November 14 onwards. The passengers didn’t really appreciate this move. After massive counterattack on social media, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said that it will soon review its decision.

In the wake of flex-fare scheme which was introduced by the railways in 2016, Air India brought out posters that went widespread on social media: ‘Now Air India SPOT FARES cheaper than Rajdhani (IIA) FLEXI FARES’. Last month, the railways discarded flexi-fares for 15 premium trains in which the occupancy is less than 50 % throughout the year.
