Diwali is approaching and the people can’t just wait the moment to open the seal of firecrackers’ box to light crackers on a special day. There were widespread speculations about banning crackers in this country once and for all which took everyone by a shock.
The environment has already gone from bad to worse owing to pollution. However, the Supreme Court, on Tuesday, gave a final verdict that there will be not a complete ban on bursting crackers but instead has ordered the people to follow certain rules.
The supreme court in its strict order has put restrictions on the timings between which firecrackers can be burst on the occasion of festivals. On Diwali, the court has said that bursting firecrackers would only be allowed from 8 pm to 10 pm.
As far as Christmas and New Years are concerned, crackers can be burst from 11.45 pm to 12.45 am. Nonetheless, the court rejected the online sale of firecrackers. In the meantime, the court also maintained that the strict order is not just confined to Diwali alone but is also applicable to all religious events. The court said that the duration of burning firecrackers will be between 8 pm to 10 pm for all other religious events.
The court has also maintained that “all state pollution boards and the Central Pollution Control Board will regulate and measure the particulate matter (PM) 2.5 and PM 10 in the air, seven days ahead and after Diwali”, Vijay Panjwani, Advocate of Central Pollution Control Board told the reporters outside court.
