Shocking news: School girl declared ‘Pregnant’ after allegedly gang-raped by seniors

It’s getting scary as the days progress and still, there are no guaranteed signs of safety for the girls and women these days. In yet another shocking incident in Dehradun boarding school, a class X girl was gang-raped by her seniors at Sahaspur. Police started the investigation and then arrested nine people, including four minor boys on Monday on charges of a gang rape.

According to a reliable source, these four minors were presented before the Juvenile Justice Board, while the rest of the five are officials of the boarding school and its staff members were arrested and put behind the bars on the charges of remaining quiet about the crime by trying to hide the secret.

On confirming the arrests of the accused, Dehradun SSP Nivedita Kukreti told TOI, “As per the initial findings and the allegations made by the girl, we have arrested the people who have been involved in the crime in one way or the other. The medical examination of the girl would be done on Tuesday after which we will be in a condition to comment any further on the matter.”

The source added that the girl was allegedly gang-raped by four students, who are known to be seniors students of class XII of the same boarding school. The matter became known over the weekend, when the victim revealed about the incident to her sister who also studies in the same school. She also told her that she was one-month pregnant. Following this shocking incident, the school management tried to conceal the matter.

However, on Sunday, an active team of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (USCPCR) led by chairperson Usha Negi and members of the commission Sharda Tripathi and Seema Dora went to meet the girl. After an enquiry, an FIR was registered in the case at Sahaspur police station.

“After the girl informed the school administration about the incident, she was given various types of drinks for terminating the pregnancy. We have learnt that the medicated drinks were given to her by the administrator and his wife, who, instead of reporting the matter to the police were busy trying to hush it up,” Negi said.

She also added that the girl was also taken by the school officials to a nursing home for ending the pregnancy. The commission members said that when they visited the school, they were shocked at the tardy facilities there. “Twenty-two girls were staying in the hostel without any female warden for the past one month. There was no CCTV in the premises where both boys and girls were staying,” Negi said.
