Heart-touching gesture: Delhi police donates 1 crore from salaries to Kerala flood victims

The current situation now is not so bad in Kerala. Life is slowly restoring back to normal and thanks to the celebrities for chipping in with donations, materials and many other things to the sufferers of the calamity. In recent news, the Delhi Police on Friday had announced that it would donate Rs 1 crore from their salaries to the flood-hit Kerala.

The police would contribute the money to Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. The amount has already been collected from Delhi police employees’ salaries. It is cognisance of the fact that the Kerala was hit by the disastrous flood situation in 90 years. Due to this worst flash flood situation, around 357 people died and the state encountered a whopping loss around 20,000 crore.

Earlier, in the day, the Ministry of Health sanctioned an additional benefit of Rs. 18.71 crore under the National Rural Health Mission. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also said on Friday, “Rs.10,000 will be transferred to the bank accounts of people who will leave relief camps and also to the people who have already left.”

The Central government alone has chipped in with Rs.600 crore as advance assistance.
On Thursday, the Centre publicized that extra funds would be released from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) on estimation of the damages in the flood-hit state according to the laid down procedure.

Several Members of Parliament and IAS Officers Association of Andhra Pradesh stepped forward to donate their one-day income to support Kerala. The likes of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and several other states stepped in to support Kerala. Celebrities too came forward and did their bit in the recent past couple of days.
