TCS to help Indian Railways recruit for 1 lakh Govt jobs: Report

A sensational development has crept in the build-up to plethora of job opportunities in the country as Indian Railways is all geared up to conducting world’s largest recruitment drive by recruiting 1 lakh eligible candidates in the upcoming months according to a report in Economic Times. To add the fact that, it is the first major recruitment for government jobs to be organised by a private firm like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

TCS is known to conduct India’s most reputed entrance tests like the Common Aptitude Test (CAT) for admission to the Indian Institutes of Management, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in the interests of the Indian Institutes of Technology and the All India Engineering Entrance Exam among others.

In 2015,Indian railways had partnered with TCS iON for pilot test. The collaboration was done to conduct Railways’ recruitment exams via an online portal. The pilot test ran on TCS’s iON-cloud platform where the exam management tool permits secured question paper creation and distribution. The online recruitment drive to be organised by TCS is expected to bring a clarity in the recruitment process which many times comes across as corruption charges & bias.

In 2016, TCS- India’s biggest software services exporter had assessed around 85 million candidates. It also successfully managed the evaluation of 1.94 lakh candidates, which is the largest ever in a single sitting. TCS is now trading its iON cloud platform in the notable abroad countries such as Japan and Ireland.

Various sources confirmed that the railways have already received more than 2 crore applications for nearly 1 lakh job vacancies. “TCS will be the technology partner of the railways for phase-wise online examinations starting from August 9,” according to a Business Standard report.
