Proud moment: Indian city ranked third among World’s Best 15 cities

In what is a proud moment for all the Indians, Rajasthan’s Udaipur city was ranked third in the World’s Best Cities 2018 by Travel & Leisure (T+L). It is popularly known as ‘Venice of East’ and ‘City of Lakes’. Udaipur stole the spotlight in Asia. Coming to the two cities that are ranked at the top, both are in Mexico.

It is San Miguel de Allende that is ranked at the first place followed by Oaxaca at the second place. San Miguel de Allende also topped the list last year. It is indeed a good n Udaipur is the only city in India to make it to the Top 15 list. Last year too, Udaipur topped the list in Asia and it was ranked at the 14th position on the list.

A survey was conducted by Travel & Leisure magazine (T+L) and the rankings are released based on it. Each year the magazine requests its readers to give reviews on travel experiences around the globe. The Surveys are done for top cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and so on. The cities were given reviews based on their sights, friendliness, shopping, landmarks, culture, cuisine and overall value.

San Miguel de Allende and Oaxaca in Mexico topped the list with a score of 91.94 and 90.52 respectively. Udaipur scored 89.31 coming third on the list. The other cities in top-10 are Ubud, Indonesia; Kyoto, Japan; Florence; Luang Prabang; Hoi An, Vietnam; Chiang Mai, Thailand; and Charleston, South Carolina.
