Son of a poor farmer, breaks all records in running, in Indian Army’s recruitment race

It was a Saturday afternoon, and the sun was breathing fire. The Indian Army had organized a recruitment rally, at the PG College ground in the city of Ghazipur, in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Thousands of young men had gathered at the venue, for a chance to get job in the country’s armed forces. One of them was Subhash Kumar Yadav, who had come from Mirzapur, for appearing in the recruitment rally.

As it happens at all such recruitment rallies, there is a physical test, which is followed by a written examination. In order to pass the physical test, one needs to run a 1600 meter race, and complete it within 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Candidates are allotted their respective numbered circular tracks, inside which they need to run. A candidate running in the inner track, starts behind his counterpart in the next outer track, in all such races.

Subhash, who was running on the second track, gathered lightening speed from the start. The military officers who were conducting the test, were astonished. He completed the race in just 4 minutes and 32 seconds! Much earlier than the stipulated 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Officials declared that this was a new record in Army’s recruitment race history, and applauded Subhash for his effort.

Son of Raghunath Yadav – A poor farmer in Devapurak village under jurisdiction of the Padri police station, Subhash, who was running Bailgadi, had participated in marathons many a times at the school level, where he always used to come first. Not just this, he had passed the physical test in three previous recruitment rallies, that he had attended. However, he missed out on a job opportunity every time, due to failure in the written examination.

But this time Subhash has a firm resolve to pass the written examination, as he has promised the same to himself and those who know him. The Youth team wishes Subhash all the luck, needed to crack the written examination. Before Subhash managed to break it by 7 seconds, the record for Indian Army’s recruitment rally race, belonged to Rustam Kumar of Gorakhpur, who had completed the race in 4 minutes and 39 seconds, in 2017.
