India makes world’s record- 800kg Khichdi distributed to orphan children and foreign representatives

As Khichdi stirring a fresh debate and controversy in the country after being named as India’s National Food, nearly two dozen people from different walks of life have come together to establish a new world record. The khichdi was prepared by well known chef Sanjeev Kapoor at the World Food India event in an attempt to set world record and popularize it as brand India food all across the world..

Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and other personalities were among those participating in the event.

A giant frying pan with a capacity of 1,000 litres was used for preparing more than 800 kg khichdi.

The prepared khichdi will then be served to about 60,000 orphan kids as well as guest presents at the event. The Indian dish will also be distributed to the foreign representatives living in India with a slip of its recipe.

The news of making Khichdi the National Food had recently sparked a fresh debate between those who liked it and those who didn’t. Many claimed that it was a dish consumed by those who fall sick.

However, the Food Processing Ministry, led by Harsimrat Kaur Badal, later came out making everything clear that there was no plan to declare Khichdi  the National Dish’, but it was only been put for a record entry in World Food India.

They want to promote the Indian dish globally so that it can get a recognition all over  the world. Unlike pizza, burger and noodles, Khichdi is a very healthy food.
