17 Year old boy from Odisha generates electricity from scrapped Rs.500 notes

The whole India was taken by a storm in November last year when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes will no longer be in use. People struggled a lot to cope up with the change and it did take a lot of time to get used to it.

Whilst all these people kept throwing these 500 and 1000 rupee notes in garbage, Lachman Dundi, a 17 year old boy from Odisha claimed that he can generate electricity from the 500 rupee notes. Hard to believe isn’t it? But don’t worry, he is not merely claiming it, he makes sense and its pretty much believable.

“I used the silicon coating on the note to create energy. I tore up the note so that the coating is visible, which I exposed to direct sunlight. The silicon plate has to be connected to a transformer with an electric wire. This can help generate electricity .”  said Lachman as quoted by India Times.

Interestingly, the PMO wrote a letter to the Odisha government to confirm if this guy’s claims were true or not and after confirming that his ideas were true, they sent a letter back to the PMO, which also included a report on his entire project.

Dundi and his family earn a living by selling bulbs and henceforth its not that hard to believe he has cracked such a genius innovation. “Following demonetisation, I tried to discover the best possible way of using the banned notes. I tore up a note and found the silicon plate. I have created a transformer that can store the charge from the silicon plate. It will be a proud moment for me if the PMO appreciates my innovation,” said Dundi.

How brilliant is that for a kid who is just about completed his schooling. This why many feel the future of our country is in safe hands and its also important for all of us to find out more techniques like this to bring the best out of what many consider to be waste.
